AquaWatch's founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO), James Muir, recently engaged in a collaborative effort with Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI) to enhance water quality monitoring.

To help deliver their goal of obtaining precise, continuous, and comprehensive water quality data sets for all end users, James was actively involved, both in the office and in the field, alongside IFI's dedicated team.

Real-Time Data for Proactive Management

The collaboration between AquaWatch and IFI is empowering IFI to access real-time information on critical water parameters, including dissolved oxygen (DO) and temperature, among others, that collectively contribute to assessing water quality health. Having immediate access to this vital data equips IFI with the tools needed to proactively manage and maintain the health of approximately 74,000 kilometers of rivers and streams, as well as 128,000 lake hectares under their stewardship.

Remote Customer Support and Future Collaborations

This collaborative effort has also provided AquaWatch with the opportunity to test and refine its remote customer support processes, ensuring that end users receive the best assistance and guidance in how to utilise AquaWatch's water monitoring technology effectively.

The face-to-face interactions during this collaborative endeavour have also fostered discussions about the exciting possibilities that lie ahead for AquaWatch and IFI. As we explore avenues for future collaborations, the shared vision of enhancing water quality monitoring and safeguarding aquatic biodiversity remains at the forefront.

AquaWatch is proud to be a part of IFI's mission to ensure the sustainability and health of Ireland's rivers, streams, and lakes. By delivering accurate and continuous water quality data, AquaWatch empowers organisations like IFI to make informed decisions that have a positive impact on aquatic ecosystems and the communities they serve.
